Finding the Right Gym for Your Bodybuilding
Your bodybuilding workout should be an ongoing sanctuary, so how do you determine which gym is right for you? After you make the commitment to incorporate regular bodybuilding fitness to your daily life, you need to investigate and explore what type of gym would work bests for your lifestyle and personality. Prior to signing a gym membership contract or opening your checkbook, ask yourself these tough questions before you make the commitment.
Local Gym
How close is the gym to your work or home? Location is one of the most critical part in determining if you can stick to your bodybuilding fitness program. Let’s face it, sometimes, it’s difficult to start your bodybuilding exercises, especially after a long day of work, and if the gym is on the other side of town, the chances of you making excuses or not going at all are very high! By contrast, if the fitness club is within close proximity to your work or home, it will be much easier to sustain your bodybuilding fitness goals.
Gym Hours
What are the hours of operations of the gym? The gym hours should correspond with your bodybuilding workout sessions. What about holidays or early / late hours? Make sure that the gym hours correspond with your available workout schedule. For instance, your available workout hours could be late at night due to your job; however, your prospective gym could close by 9:00 p.m.
Affordable Gym
How affordable is the gym membership? How much can you comfortable afford to spend every month towards your bodybuilding fitness program? Gym memberships vary tremendously, so it pays off to do a little research. Be sure to take advantage of student rates, family discounts, seasonal specials, corporate rates, etc. Also, don’t pay for extras or amenities that would not interest you, such as rock climbing, boxing ring, etc. If it is not part of your bodybuilding workout program, more than likely, you probably won’t use it.
Clean Exercise Equipment
How clean is the fitness facility? How well is the weight room equipments maintained? Are the free weights and the exercise machines well maintained or shabby? While touring the gym, make sure that the club has disinfectant wipes and sprays throughout the fitness facility. In addition, make sure that you investigate the gym during and after their “rush hours.” After heavy traffic use, there’s nothing more unsanitary than using an exercise equipment that is covered in sweat.
Exercise Equipments
How good is the quality of the exercise equipments? Are there enough variety of fitness equipments? Do they have enough workout machines to sustain most of their clients during peak hours. You don’t want to waste your precious workout time by waiting in line for a gym equipment. The fitness equipments and free weights should be durable enough to sustain high traffic use. Also, variety is a key factor in retaining your commitment to bodybuilding, so make sure there a different types of cardio machines at the gym, ranging from elliptical to rowing machines.
Fitness Classes and Personal Trainer
Does the gym offer variety of activities, classes, or personal training? If you’re the type that thrive on peer or social interaction, then maybe fitness classes, such as spinning, kickboxing, etc., maybe a better solution for you, instead of exercising by yourself. Ask the gym if it offers personal training, along with creating a customized bodybuilding program upon initially joining the gym. As an introductory offer, some gyms offer complimentary personal training session, along with including a workout program that is right for you. Do your homework, and check to see that the fitness gym has the classes that interest you; for instance, if the facility offers mainly yoga or pilates classes, but your primarily interested in bodybuilding workout programs, then this is probably not the perfect fitness match for you.
Gym Staff Members
What is the tone and attitude of the staff members? Keep in mind that while it’s suitable for gym staff members to be fit with perfect bodies, this doesn’t always translate to top-quality results for fitness clients. When a fitness trainer or instructor is too preoccupied with their image or looks, it could interfere with your fitness results since he or she is too busy looking in the mirror, instead of focusing all of his or her energy on you. You want a staff member who will provide you with proper and safe fitness training, as well as producing effective bodybuilding results.
Free Trial Gym Membership?
Most gyms or fitness clubs provide complimentary passes, so take advantage of the free trial gym membership before you join. Also, inquire other gym members for their feedback. What are the pros and the cons of the gym? It’s best to know upfront before you sign-up, and asking these preliminary questions could save you lots of headache and invaluable time later.
Ask Before Joining a Gym
Do your homework and investigate all these issues and questions before you make the commitment of joining a gym. Carefully observe the facility and gather data in order to make the right decision. Lastly, don’t be shy about asking questions regarding any of your concerns. After all, this is your fitness future, and you want to find the right gym for your bodybuilding workouts!
